Meet The Team

ALEX MCKELVEY
CO-OWNER AND MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Alex is a freelance musical director and vocal coach based in Belfast. He studied at Bath Spa University and obtained a Certificate of Higher Education in Musical Theatre in 2018. Alex started his passion for performing at Belvoir Players Theatre Academy, where he has been a member for 15 years, directing their Junior Academy shows and taking part in their yearly pantomime, he has most recently been appointed deputy artistic director for their theatre academy. Alex also musically directs for many theatre companies in Northern Ireland including, NISMAT, Rainbow Factory, New Lodge Arts and Queens Musical Theatre Society. Alex is also a private singing teacher, teaching the London College of Music syllabus for musical theatre, he teaches a large number of pupils throughout Belfast and has a 100% pass rate in pupil examinations. He hopes he can bring his passion for music and drama to East Broadway to create confident and passionate young performers.

KATIE-ROSE SPENCE
CO-OWNER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Katie-Rose is the co-owner and creative director at East Broadway. She had a passion for theatre from a young age. She was trained in classical and theatre style singing by Leila Webster from age 9. She has performed with the Opera House Summer Youth Project and was a member of Belvoir Players for 5 years performing in both their academy musicals and pantomimes. Katie has most recently obtained a high distinction in her grade 6 musical theatre exam. Katie-Rose has enjoyed writing, directing and producing shows with East Broadway highlights include the sold out concert 'Broadway Through The Years' in the Grand Opera House and The Little Mermaid Jr with our largest cast to date. She hopes that through East Broadway she can bring her passion for mental health awareness and the benefits of theatre to young performers.

Chloe Moreland
Development officer
Chloe has been in theatre for 10 years, playing roles from ensemble to leads. She achieved highest in her class for GCSE and A-Level drama which gave her the passion that she now has for theatre. Chloe was a member of The Rainbow Factory from the age of 13 and has been a dance captain for 5 shows, this is what got her interested in the production side of theatre as well. In Chloe's most recent show, she played Janis Ian in a miniture version of “Mean Girls the Musical”. Chloe is excited to be apart of East Broadways core team as their development officer.
